Twenty-two goals were scored in Matchday One of the 2023 Nigeria Women Football League.

 

Onome Ebi who returned to the league after 13years tasted defeat as her side Naija Ratels fell to 3-1 home defeat to visiting Nasarawa Amazons.

 

Ojiyovwi Kesiena drew the first blood for Amazons while Ayatsea Hembafan doubled the lead at the nick of halftime.

 

As the second half resumed,Ayatsea Hembafan scored her second of the match put Amazons in a comfortable driving seat.

 

Davies Nora however scored a late consolation for host being assisted by veteran Onome Ebi.

 

In Owerri,it was one-sided encounter as Heartland Queens thrashed Royal Queens by Four goals to nil.

 

The duo Onyinyechi Kalu and Chidinma Anaele shot Heartland Queens into an early lead within the first ten minutes of the match while an og from Gift Afigbediitor and late goal from Chinedu Chinaka completed the rout for the hosts.

 

Dannaz Ladies held Confluence Queens to a goaless in Iyamho.

 

In Akure, Sunshine Queens were forced to a draw by Bayelsa Queens.

 

Suliat Ajibade fired home from the spot in the eighteenth minutes to put Sunshine Queens ahead.

 

However,the resilient visitors restored parity through Mercy Itimi.

 

Debutants Remo Stars Ladies forced Rivers Angels to a draw in Ikenne.

 

Motunrayo Ezekiel shot Rivers Angels into the lead in the first stanza of the match while Joy Nneka restored parity for the hosts late on.

 

In Benin,Edo Queens thrashed Robo Queens by 4goals to one.

 

Kafayat Mafisere scored the opener for the hosts in the twenty-fifth minute while Eunice Godwin doubled the advantage six minutes later.

 

Nkwocha Favour put one back for the visitors while Eunice Godwin’s second goal and a late strike from Chioma Moses completed the rout for the Benin-based side.

 

Abia Angels Pipped Adamawa Queens in a five-goal thriller in Aba.
