Akwa United head coach Fatai Osho says Wednesday’s win against Gombe United is the needed turn around to get their campaign on track.

The Promise Keepers secured their first win of the season with a 1-0 victory against the Savannah Scorpions at the Eket Township Stadium on Wednesday.

Osho stated that the team will continue to improve as the season progresses.

“I believe this is the turn around we needed to get our season going in the right direction,” he told Akwa United media.

“At the moment, we are not there yet and we are still working to ensure we get the players at the level they will perform optimally as the season progresses.

“We are not comfortable with our position, this team doesn’t belong to where we are at the moment so the only thing we need to do is to win our games irrespective of where we play.”

Akwa United climbed up to 16th position on the table following the win.
