Heartland vs Rivers United:The Naze Millionaires’ Anyanwu calls for fans’ support

Heartland FC captain, Nnaemeka Anyanwu has charged their fans and supporters to be patient with them and get behind them especially on Wednesday when they face Rivers United at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri in a Nigeria Premier Football League Matchday Six tie.

 

Anyanwu admitted that the performance of the Naze Millionaires has not been up to expectations but reckoned that the players were fully focused on their encounter with the Pride of Rivers and the target is for them to secure their first league win of the season at the end of the game.

 

He said they got back to work immediately they returned from their unfortunate defeat to Abia Warriors in Umuahia and that they have used the few training sessions they have had to correct some of the lapses that have been noticed.

 

He added that with the support and backing of their fans and loyal supporters, they have what it requires to beat Rivers United and kick start their season from there.

 

“We are sorry about our not too good start to the season. We are ready to make amends and that will start with our game against Rivers United,” Anyanwu, who has played for Enyimba, Abia Warriors and overseas told Heartland FC Media.

 

“It is this time that we need our fans and supporters behind us. We will continue to work hard to get over our difficulties and challenges. We can do it if we do away with some of the errors we have made during games and are also more forceful in attack.

 

“Our fans need to be patient with us. We shall get it right. Let them come to Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri tomorrow to cheer us to victory. It is what we need at this point in time.”

 

Heartland FC go into the game at the back of three draws and two close losses recorded this season and they will face familiar foes whom they beat in the last meeting in Owerri on May 14th last year 2-0 through the goals of Chinedu Sunday Chukwu and Chijioke Mbaoma.

 

That victory helped end the Owerri side’s two game winless streak against Stanley Eguma’s men at home. It was a 2-2 draw on June 6th, 2021 in Owerri while the Port Harcourt warlord ran away 2-0 winners in Okigwe on March 1st, 2020. Malachy Ohawume, a former trainee of the club coming back to haunt his ex-club with two late goals in that game.
