Sporting Lagos head coach Paul Offor was relieved after seeing his side put an end to their two-game winless streak in the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Jonathan Alukwu and Junior Lokosa’s first half strikes helped the modest side clinch a 2-1 victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, on Sunday night.

Offor reckoned the win was a big morale booster for his team.

“We’re very happy with the victory because it’s a game we needed to win to climb the table. Going two games without a win, we really needed this,” he told the club’s official website.

On rotating the squad due to injuries: “We’ve been unlucky this season. We now have four of our centre backs injured in first-halves of the games we’ve played. We had to use Nnamdi, a defensive midfielder, in defense today, and I’m happy with his performance and the fact that we were able to get a result,” he added.

The young tactician also spoke about his side’s next game against Kwara United.

“We hope to build on what we have done today and pick up all three points on the road. We need the away points. The faster we get them, the better for us,” he said.
