NFF Rally Support For Super Falcons Ahead Of Ethiopia Clash

Ahead of the second leg Olympic Qualifier against Lucy of Ethiopia, President of Nigeria Football Federation Ibrahim Gusau has challenged Nigerians to troop out to support the Super Falcons on Tuesday at the MKO Abiola.

Super Falcons played a 1-1 draw with their Ethiopian counterparts in Addis Ababa on Wednesday and will need victory in the second leg to stand a chance of progressing. The Randy Waldrum tutored side made it to the round of the 16 and the world Cup in Australia before bowing out, with the Gasau board saying it is determined to see the team improve on the effort made at the world cup.

He however said the NFF and the team cannot do it alone and Nigerians must show their support by coming out to the stadium to cheer the girls.

” These girls need the support of everybody and one of the ways Nigerians must show they support the team is by coming out to watch team and cheer them”.

The Nigeria Women team last qualified for the Olympic Games fifteen years ago in 2008 and the Ibrahim Gusau led board is keen to break the jinx this time around.

A win for the Falcons in Abuja against the Ethiopians will see them take on either Cameroon or Uganda in the next round of the qualifying series.
