Montpellier forward Jerome Akor is targeting a place in Nigeria’s squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former Flying Eagles hitman has impressed since his arrival at Montpellier.

Akor has scored five goals for the club and he is putting himself in a position to challenge for a place in the Super Eagles.

The striker admitted he is playing catch-up with the likes of Victor Osimhen, Taiwo Awoniyi, Victor Boniface, Terem Moffi, Kelechi Iheanacho and others who have already represented the Super Eagles.

” The target is simple – scored more goals with my club before the end of the year that it will be impossible for the Super Eagles to continue to overlook me going into the AFCON, ” Akor told SCORE Nigeria.

” I know I am playing catch-up to get on the Super Eagles squad but I will still back myself to do just that. ”
