Remo Stars FC pipped Sporting Lagos to extend South-west derbies dominance
Sporting Lagos who hit Ikenne, Ogun State with a desire to pocket at least a point were handed a 2-1 defeat by Remo Stars
Interestingly, the Lagos boys got the opening goal in the 21st minute thanks to Jonathan Alukwu, but that was all there was to it as they could not maintain the tempo. Franck Mawuena levelled up for the homers in the 31st minute and the first half closed at 1-1 draw.
On return in the second half the home side raised the bar grabbing a goal in the 53rd minute via a spot kick which veteran NPFL star Sikiru Alimi did not hesitate to convert.
With the 2-1 result Remo Stars cemented their place at the top of the NPFL table with 9 points in four games, a point above second-placed Lobi Stars. While Sporting Lagos dropped to the 11th spot on the league table with 5 points in four games.
