Go For NWFL Trophy, Commissioner Charges Sunshine Queens

Ahead of the 2023/24 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), Ondo State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Bamidele Ologunloluwa has charged Sunshine Queens players to brace up and set their eyes on the league’s trophy.

He congratulated the players for returning the team to the Elite league after just a season at the lower league, urging them not to only sustain their return to the league, but work assiduously to to win the league.

The soft spoken commissioner also lauded the feat recorded by the team in the just concluded pre-Season tourney in Abuja, where they came third.

Ologunloluwa added that the management of the club will continue to play its part to motivate the players to be comfortable in order to give their best to the team.

The commissioner stated this when he paid an unscheduled visit to the team’s training ground at Oda Road,
Akure, the state capital.

He said the management of the club loves them, believes in them and their coaching crew, adding that they should work hard and do the team and the state proud when the league finally kicks off on November 15.

“All of you are important to us, I’m very sure this season will be a glorious one for all of us ”

“We will continue to support you, and we want you to give your best, I have watched your training many times , you have all the quality to be crowned Nigeria Women Football League eague champions this season”

Responding on behalf of the players, Kehinde Aganmuyi thanked the commissioner for his fatherly role in ensuring that the 2015 Federation Cup winners returned to the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) after just a season from the lower league.

She said: “We are promising you that we are going to give our best, not only to do well in the league, but to sustain our elite league return.”
