The 24-year-old left camp for Naples the following day for medical examinations.
A release on Napoli’s official website on Monday confirmed that the striker has suffered a medium-grade lesion of the biceps femoris in his right thigh.
It is expected that Osimhen will sit out at least three of Napoli’s next matches, however, Sky Sport Italia have noted that the usual recovery time for this sort of injury is typically around four to six weeks.
Napoli’s Rudi Garcia will now have to do without his leading goalscorer, at a minimum, for the upcoming matches against Hellas Verona in Serie A, as well as the Champions League trip to Union Berlin, as well as the visit from Milan the following weekend.
Interestingly, this is second time Osimhen will be suffering injury on international duty.
In November 2020, the striker was sidelined for several weeks after he dislocated his shoulder playing for the Super Eagles against Sierra Leone in Benin City.
