Victor Boniface made history as the fifth Bayer Leverkusen player to score seven goals after seven league games on Sunday night.

The 22-year-old was on target in Die Werkself’s 3-0 victory over Cologne at the BayArena.

Only Herbert Waas, Ulf Kirsten, Patrick Helmes and Lucas Alario had managed seven goals after seven games in Bayer Leverkusen’s Bundesliga history.

Boniface scored Xabi Alonso’s side’s third goal of the game in the 67th minute.

The well-built striker has enjoyed a perfect start in the Bundesliga following his switch from Belgian Pro League outfit Union St Gilloise in the summer.

The Nigeria international has so far scored nine goals in 10 appearances across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen.
