Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has underlined the importance of the team’s clash against South Africa to their ambition of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The West Africans will continue their quest to secure a place at the mundial when they host Bafana Bafana at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Friday.
Finidi George’s side sit in third position in Group C after drawing their opening two games against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Musa reckoned they must beat Hugo Broos’ side to keep their qualification hopes alive.
“The game against South Africa is going to be tough because we eliminated them in the semifinal of the Africa Cup Nations ,” Musa told ESPN.
“And our Super Falcons also eliminated their women’s team from the Olympics so they will come for revenge because they will not want us to eliminate them from the World Cup, too.
“But we are playing at home so we don’t have to panic, we just have to give our best and do what we know how to do best on the pitch.”
