FC Basira Lifts Nasarawa State FA Cup, Beat Nasarawa United

FC Basira were made to sweat before triumphing over their arch-rivals, Nasarawa United in the final of the Nasarawa State FA Cup at the Lafia City Stadium.
With the first half ending goalless, The game came alive when Chiemere Matthew burst into the Nasarawa United area to hit a one-time effort into the back of Isaac Jerry’s net two minutes after the resumption.
Nasarawa United however poured men forward in search of the equaliser and they got it through former FC Basira play Anas Yusuf in the 76th minute.
Substitute Biliya Abdullahi found enough space to beat Ifeanyi Eze in the far right before sending a low cross into the FC Basira box which was cooly converted by Anas Yusuf to set a nervy ending for both teams as the game ended with both sides scoring a goal apiece.
During the shootout, FC Basira converted all their kicks with Musa Musa missing for Nasarawa United as FC Basira won by 5-4 on penalties.
The quintet of HRH Mr Lawrence Ayih (Abaga Toni II), Adamu Hashima (Chairman Referee FCT), Orah Humphery (FCMB), Sam Kigbu Smart (Nasarawa Amazons) and Hamzat Moyi (SSA on Sports Representing The Executive Governor Of Nasarawa State, Engr. A.A Sule) were decorated with a commemorative medal by the Nasarawa State FA’s Vice Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Adamu Shigarfata (MajinKira Keffi).
For the individual awards, Jibrin Ibrahim of City Rollers carted home the top scorer award while the duo of Chiemere Matthew and Elias Victor were voted the Most Valuable Player and the Best Goalkeeper respectively.
The Champions got N200,000 while the runners-up got N100,000 naira.
