Ado-Ekiti 2023: Ondo Lead BESS in South-West

Going into the final day of action at the Basic Education School Sports (BESS) for public primary schools in Nigeria’s South-West, Ondo State have won four more gold to shoot to the top of the medals table, in Ado-Ekiti with five gold.
Ondo opened the floodgate of medals with two gold in High Jump as the boys champion Samuel Owadokun and the female counterpart Abiodun Ayanfe recorded remarkable heights.
The state youngsters also clinched silver and bronze in 400m boys and girls respectively.
Hassan Ibrahim ‘Orobo’ consolidated on the gold medal haul, emerging the winner in Chess (Boys).
Ejike Emmanuel narrowly missed out on gold but clinched silver in Scrabble (Boys).
It was a rapturous moment at Ekiti State SUBEB Hall where Team Ondo grabbed another gold medal thanks to Joyfulnews Otemuyiwa’s heroics in boys Table Tennis after dispatching his Ekiti rival in three sets.
Hard fighting Alia Ogungbemi clinched the silver medal in the girls category.
The competition will be rounded off today with the boys Soccer final between Osun and Ekiti while winners will be decided in the 4x100m relays for both genders.
