The Head of Band of Sporting Lagos FC, Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao, has led the wave of celebrations following the club’s successful promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), describing the achievement as a proud and defining moment for the team and Lagos football at large.

Sporting Lagos secured their return to Nigeria’s top-flight league after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Osun United, a result that confirmed their promotion after two years away from the elite division. The club finished top of their group, narrowly edging Akwa United by just one point in a closely contested race.

Reacting to the achievement, Alhaji Alao praised the resilience, discipline, and determination displayed by the players, coaching staff, and management throughout the season.

According to him, the promotion is not only a victory for Sporting Lagos but also a significant boost for football development in Lagos State. He emphasized that the club’s return to the NPFL will inspire young footballers and further strengthen the state’s presence in Nigerian football.

Alhaji Alao also commended the unity within the club, stating that the collective effort and shared vision were key factors behind the success. He assured the team of continued support, urging them to remain focused and competitive as they prepare for the challenges of top-flight football.

“This achievement is well deserved. The players and the entire technical crew have shown great commitment and belief. This is just the beginning of greater things to come,” he stated.

With this promotion, Sporting Lagos joins Inter Lagos FC and Ikorodu City as Lagos-based teams in the NPFL, further highlighting the state’s growing influence in Nigerian football.

As celebrations continue, attention now shifts to the upcoming NPFL season, where Sporting Lagos will aim to build on this success and establish themselves firmly among Nigeria’s football elite.
