With the Osogbo Township Stadium undergoing a major remodelling, Architect John Ewule, the Project Manager of Maxwell Int’l Venture, says the sports facility will be completed within the specified time frame.

Architect Ewule gave the assurance in a chat with newsmen, after the Osun State Deputy Governor, Prince Kola Adewusi, who doubles as the Commissioner for Sports had an on-site inspection of the sports facility with his entourage on Tuesday.

Not perturbed by the visit, Architect Ewule says the different phases of the project will begin to take their physical shape.

“There are several aspects of the project that I’m sure you have noticed. We intend to deliver the football pitch soon, while work will continue in progress. I am quite sure that you’ll see considerable work at that time.

“We trust that with the support of the Osun State Government and the weather being fair, we will be able to surpass the expectations. ”

On the challenges faced, “I must say, we had a little setback, of course, we had issues we needed to sort out and it’s good we have overcome them. Things have improved for the better, as I have seen dedication from both parties, the state government (our client) and from us too.

“You can see that the progress of work at the site has doubled, we also intend to speed up the pace, with a view to avoiding the wet season. We intend to complete the foundation, that’s why we must work as swiftly as possible.”

Going by the 3D design of the facility, Architect Ewule is certain that the physical appearance of the stadium will soon take shape.

“As I said, the project is in various aspects, by the time the extension of the stands is complete, we’ll be able to see much more, as we still have to roof the stadium.

“We also have other aspects, such as the Indoor Sports Hall, the hostel and the practice pitches, which will be completed by the year.

“We trust that with proper support, we will be able to get the project done before the year ends.”

As regards the capacity of the stadium and how many athletes the hotel can accommodate, “The expansion of the Main Bowl is from 6,000 to 15,000 capacity, while the hostel has over 50 bed spaces, and we might have more as we’re building one for junior athletes. We also have 30 rooms, that can accommodate two beds.”
