Parents have been urged to continually support their children and wards in achieving their goals and aspirations in life, just as they cheer them on during sporting competitions.

This was the message from the management and stakeholders of Mimshach School during the 2026 Inter-House Sports Competition held at the school premises in Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State.

The annual event featured colourful displays and excitement, including a march past by the various houses and several sporting activities such as football, egg race, sack race, the one hundred metre race for boys and girls, and tug of war. Winners in the different events were also rewarded with medals.

Four houses Hope House, Charity House, Faith House and Peace House competed for the overall trophy in both junior and senior categories.

Speaking on the objectives of the inter-house games, the Coordinator of Students’ Affairs, Mrs Hope Odinla, explained that the competition is aimed at fostering love and unity between parents and their children while also encouraging teamwork and healthy competition among students.

Also speaking, one of the school’s patrons, Oluwajumoke Ajayi, noted that the competition has improved over time in terms of organisation and delivery, expressing optimism that future editions would be even better.

Highlighting the role of parents in the success of the event, the school’s Sportsmaster, Mr Oluwatobiloba Odueke, commended them for their support and encouragement to the students.

Mr Odueke, who expressed satisfaction with the turnout of parents at the event, added that Mimshach School combines academics with sporting activities to help students develop both mentally and physically.

One of the outstanding students at the competition, Erioluwa Balogun, who won several medals, said the achievement would motivate her to improve in sports and pursue her dream of representing Nigeria in the future.

Parents were also part of the fun as they participated in some events, including the one hundred metre race and tug of war.

At the end of the competition, Peace House emerged overall champion of the 2026 Inter-House Sports Games, while Faith House finished as first runner-up, Charity House came second runner-up, and Hope House placed third runner-up.
