‎Ibibo Amos of Ewoi FC has gone into the history books as the scorer of the fastest goal of Season 8 of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football showpiece, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, tagged the Prosperity Cup.

‎Amos’ history-making goal came in the 53rd second of the game in a tie decided at the Kolo centre in Ogbia Local Government Area of the State. Sambo Pius doubled the scoreline on 56; before going on to nick a brace in the 84th minute to earn Ewoi FC a ticket to the next round, after brushing aside Onuebum FC by three goals to one.

‎In the second match of the day at the same Kolo Centre, Chief Street FC whitewashed Accounting FC six nil to move into the next phase of the tournament.

‎Bayelsa State College Of Health Technology, BYCOTECH FC at the Otuabagi centre edged out Ogbia Academy by two goals to one. Divine Moses put BYCOTECH FC in front from a perfect finish while Solomon Olala added another to make it 2-0. Ataman reduced the tally in the 65th minute but his effort was not enough to secure Ogbia Academy passage to the next round of the competition.

‎Orashi FC, in the second game humbled Edok FC of Kolo by two nil to secure their next round ticket. Fred Egbo put Orashi FC in front on 38 minutes. Monday Awari on 85 minutes scored the insurance goal to confirm their place in the next round.

‎At the Otuokpoti centre, Diamond FC eased out Azibet FC by three goals to one. Goals from the trio of Gospel Ake, Okola Gift and Prosper Opuene gave Diamond FC the deserved victory. Okola God gift pulled one back to reduce the deficit for Azibet FC but it was too little, to late.

‎Okodi FC in the last fixture at the Otuokpoti centre overpowered Aluta FC by five goals to one to begin their quest for the ₦30,000,000.00 prize money and trophy on a winning note, having dominated proceeding in the encounter.

‎Federal University Otuoke, FUO Kings at the Imiringi centre dispatched Egyptians FC. Emiete Victor’s brace in each half of the game ensured that Egyptians FC packed their bags and baggages.

‎Still at the Imiringi centre, Oruma FC triumphed over Jerry FC of Ogbia by 4-3 on penalties. Pius Kurotimi scored a brace on 12 and 24 minutes to put Oruma FC in front. Felix Jasper responded with another on 76 and 88 minutes, thus stretching the game into penalty shootout.

‎At the Otuasega centre, Metros FC beat Silvia FC three goals to one to keep their hopes of winning the tournament alive while Kolo Creek FC pipped Ibelebiri FC by a lone goal to qualify for the next stage.

‎Action will resume on Tuesday March 17th, 2026 in the tournament in five different centres in Ogbia LGA as Ekeremor LGA gets underway.
