Emiloju FC have secured qualification for the National Playoffs of the 2026 Mobil Naija Cup after an impressive run in the Lagos Zone preliminaries.

The Lagos-based side demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the qualifying series, edging past strong opponents to book their place among the top teams that will compete at the national stage of the prestigious grassroots football tournament.

Emiloju FC began their qualification campaign with a hard-fought encounter against Kiraa FC. After a tightly contested match that ended 1–1 at full time, Emiloju FC held their nerve to triumph in the penalty shootout and advance to the next round.

They followed up the victory with a solid 2–1 win over Future Bright FC, showcasing attacking quality and tactical discipline.

In another tense contest, Emiloju FC faced Vido 99 FC in a match that again ended in a draw at full time. Demonstrating composure under pressure, Emiloju FC once more prevailed in the penalty shootout to confirm their qualification for the National Playoffs.

The 2026 Mobil Naija Cup began with a massive participation of 150 teams drawn from five zones across the country Lagos, Akure, Benin, Ilorin, and Enugu. After the preliminary rounds, only ten teams will advance to compete in the National Playoffs.

The National Playoffs will feature a group phase format before culminating in the grand finale scheduled for March 25, 26, and 28.

Speaking after his team’s qualification, Emiloju FC President, Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao, expressed pride in the players’ performance and optimism about their chances of winning the competition.

According to him, the team has shown resilience and strong character throughout the qualifiers, qualities he believes will carry them far in the tournament.

“I am very proud of the players and the technical crew for their determination and fighting spirit. Qualifying from the Lagos zone is not easy because of the quality of teams involved,” Alao said.

“We are going to the National Playoffs with confidence and strong belief. Our target is to compete strongly and win the tournament. The boys have shown they have what it takes.”

The stakes are high at the National Playoffs as the eventual winners will go home with a ₦5 million cash prize and the prestigious Mobil Naija Cup trophy, making the competition one of the most attractive youth football tournaments in the country.
