Ondo Club Owners Celebrate Female Football Excellence At Akoko Secondary Schools Female Football Competition Grand Finale

Delegates of the Ondo State Club Owners Association were on ground in Akoko yesterday to grace the grand finale of the maiden edition of the Akoko Secondary Schools Female Football Competition, marking a significant milestone in the promotion of grassroots female football in Ondo State.
The historic tournament was sponsored by Otunba Adeyemi Odomode Lacrown, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ondo State Club Owners Association, whose commitment made the successful staging of the competition possible.
The delegation to the final match was led by the Secretary of the Association, Pastor Dotun Omoogun, alongside the Assistant Secretary, Coach Blessing Perez, as they witnessed an exciting finale that showcased the growing quality and passion in girls’ football at the secondary school level.
Speaking at the grand finale, Pastor Dotun Omoogun expressed immense satisfaction with the level of football artistry, discipline and determination displayed by the young girls, describing the competition as a clear indication that female football in the state has a promising future.

He praised the players for their confidence and technical improvement, noting that platforms such as the Akoko Secondary Schools Female Football Competition are crucial for discovering and nurturing young talents.
Pastor Omoogun also poured encomiums on the sponsor, Otunba Adeyemi Odomode Lacrown, for initiating and supporting a project that promotes female participation in sports, adding that such initiatives align with global efforts to empower the girl-child through football.
According to him, the Ondo State Club Owners Association will continue to encourage programmes that foster grassroots development and provide opportunities for young female footballers to grow and compete.
On the pitch, Otolomi High School emerged champions after edging Mount Carmel Secondary School 5–4 on penalties, following a goalless draw at the end of regulation time in a tense and closely contested final.
Earlier in the third-place playoff, Lennon Jubilee High School defeated Akoko Anglican Grammar School 3–0 to finish third in the competition.
The successful completion of the maiden edition has been widely applauded, with stakeholders expressing hope that the tournament will be sustained and expanded in the coming years to further boost female football development across Akoko and Ondo State at large.
