‎Nigeria’s Super Eagles have recorded a significant rise in the latest FIFA World Rankings, climbing to 26th position globally in the rankings released on Monday by the world football governing body.

‎The impressive jump follows Nigeria’s outstanding performance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the Super Eagles finished third, showcasing resilience, tactical discipline, and consistency throughout the tournament.

‎Prior to the continental showpiece, the three-time African champions were ranked 38th in the world, making the 12-place leap one of their biggest improvements in recent years.

‎On the African continent, Éric Chelle’s side also moved up to third place, trailing only Morocco, who are ranked eighth globally, and Senegal, who sit 12th in the world. Algeria’s Desert Foxes and the Pharaohs of Egypt complete the top five African teams.

‎Nigeria’s rise was fueled by an impressive AFCON campaign that saw the Super Eagles win six of their seven matches, suffering just one defeat on their way to a podium finish.

‎At the summit of the global rankings, Spain retained the number one position, while reigning world champions Argentina remain second. France are ranked third, England fourth, and Brazil round off the top five.

‎The next FIFA World Rankings are scheduled to be released on April 1, 2026.
