Defending champions Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been drawn in Group C of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where they will face Zambia, Egypt and Malawi in the group stage of the tournament.
The Group C fixtures will be played at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, Morocco, as Africa’s elite women’s national teams battle for continental supremacy.
Nigeria will renew hostilities with Zambia, a familiar opponent, having convincingly defeated the Copper Queens 5–0 in the quarter-finals of the 2024 edition of the competition, also hosted by Morocco. That emphatic victory remains one of the Super Falcons’ most dominant performances in recent WAFCON history.
Coach Justine Madugu’s side will also come up against Malawi, marking the first-ever meeting between the two nations at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. Egypt, meanwhile, bring experience to the group, having been regular participants in the tournament over the years.
With a rich legacy in African women’s football, the Super Falcons will head into the competition aiming to extend their record by clinching an unprecedented 11th WAFCON title on Moroccan soil.
The 2026 edition of the tournament will feature 16 countries for the first time, signaling a new era of expansion and increased competitiveness in African women’s football. The competition is scheduled to run from March 17 to April 3.
