Odigbo Football Council Hails Aiyedatiwa, Sports Ministry Over Successful O’Datiwa U-17 Tournament ‎

‎The Odigbo Football Council has congratulated the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and the Ondo State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development on the successful hosting of the maiden edition of O’DATIWA U-17 Football Tournament.

‎The Chairman of the Odigbo Football Council and State Vice Chairman of the Ondo State Football Association, Coach Oladimeji Abimbola, in a statement on behalf of football stakeholders in Odigbo Local Government Area, described the tournament as a landmark initiative that had further strengthened grassroots football development in the state.

‎The Governor’s Cup featured 36 teams drawn from the 18 local government areas of Ondo State, with two teams representing each local government.

‎Orunners-up, from Odigbo Local Government defeated Rolawe FC of Akure North 4–3 in a penalty shootout in the final encounter after regulation time ended goalless. Rolawe FC finished as first runners-up.

‎Coach Abimbola commended the Governor for his unwavering commitment to youth empowerment through sports, noting that the tournament provided a vital platform for discovering and nurturing young football talents across Ondo State.

‎He also praised the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development under the vibrant Commissioner Segun Omoyofunmi for its effective coordination, professionalism, and dedication, which contributed immensely to the smooth and successful execution of the competition.

‎According to him, the Tournament had rekindled hope among young footballers and reinforced Ondo State’s reputation as a breeding ground for sporting excellence.

‎The Odigbo Football Council reaffirmed its support for the state government’s sports development agenda and pledged continued collaboration with relevant authorities to promote football and youth development at the grassroots level.
