NNL: Osun Utd Seeks Redemption Against Solution FC In Awka
2 min read
Osun United Football Club will look to bounce back from the season-opening defeat to Sporting Lagos as they take on Solution FC in Awka, Anambra State, for the second match of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League season.
The Gladiators, as they are fondly called, arrived in Awka on time to acclimate to the venue and are ramping up their preparations for the crucial away game.
Speaking after a light walk at the match venue, Osun Utd coach Shina Afolabi urged his charges to put last weekend’s 3-1 loss to Sporting Lagos behind them and focus on getting all three points against Solution FC. “We had a tough one, but that’s behind us now. We have so much to fight for, and we won’t allow chance and time to determine our ambition,” Afolabi said. “We want to go into this important clash with the right attitude and awareness of what we need to do per time.”
Solution FC, on the other hand, will be looking to make amends for their own away defeat to Akwa United in Uyo, where they lost 2-0 in matchday 1. The Awka-based side will be keen on getting a positive result at home, especially considering their previous away slump. The last time these two sides met in Awka, the match ended 1-1, and Osun Utd will be looking to take their chances to the next level.
The players are putting in the work, and Afolabi is confident that his team will come out on top. “Everyone is eager to get back on track, and we’re ready to put up a good show,” he said. The match is set to kick off at the Awka City Stadium and promises to be an exciting encounter between two sides looking to get their NNL campaigns back on track. Kickoff is slated for 3 pm.
