‎The Deputy President of the All Sports Supporters’ Club of Nigeria, Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao, has firmly dismissed reports circulating in some media quarters alleging that the National Sports Commission (NSC) sponsored only 10 supporters to Morocco for the recently concluded 2026 FIFA World Cup playoff matches involving the Super Eagles against Gabon and DR Congo.

‎Speaking upon his return from Morocco, Alao described the reports as false, misleading, and mischievous, stressing that the NSC, in fact, ensured substantial logistical and moral support for the Nigerian supporters during the crucial fixtures.

‎ “It is a lie that the National Sports Commission sponsored less than 10 supporters to Morocco,” he said.

‎“I have just arrived from Morocco, and I can authoritatively tell you that the NSC sponsored many supporters. We had a strong presence, and the NSC played a major role in ensuring we mobilized effectively to cheer the Super Eagles.”

‎Alao revealed that beyond airfare and accommodation support for members of the supporters’ clubs, the NSC also facilitated transportation for Nigerians living in Morocco to enable them attend the matches in large numbers.

‎According to him, the Commission provided six 60-seater buses to convey members of the Nigerian community across different Moroccan cities to the stadium, ensuring the Super Eagles received the needed encouragement from the stands throughout the playoff series.

‎He further applauded the NSC for its commitment, coordination, and interventions, which he said significantly boosted the morale of both supporters and the national team.

‎ “The NSC did very well. Their interventions were timely and impactful. They rallied behind the Super Eagles and ensured Nigerians showed up massively to support the team,” Alao added.

‎Alao urged the public to disregard misleading reports and continue to support national institutions working tirelessly to uplift Nigerian sports at international events.
