‎The management of Bayelsa United has issued a two-match ultimatum to the players and coaching crew following a string of disappointing results in the ongoing Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

‎Club Chairman, Dr. Tarilaye Nwankwe, made the announcement during an emergency meeting with the team at their camp in Yenagoa.

‎According to Dr. Nwankwe, the ultimatum takes effect from this weekend’s away fixture against Warri Wolves in Ozoro, and the subsequent home clash with Plateau United on October 31, 2025. He warned that the club would no longer tolerate below-par performances.

‎ “The Bayelsa State Government has made significant investments in this club, yet the results have not justified that commitment,” Dr. Nwankwe stated. “We cannot continue like this. The players and coaches must ensure the team’s performance reflects the level of support being provided, starting from this weekend.”

‎The chairman emphasized that the move was not intended as a witch-hunt but as a corrective measure aimed at realigning everyone with the club’s vision of restoring Bayelsa United to its place among Nigeria’s elite football teams.

‎The warning comes after the team’s disappointing display in last Sunday’s encounter against newly-promoted Kun Khalifat, which further deepened concerns about their current form.
