‎Rivers United suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to Mozambique’s Black Bulls in the first leg of their CAF Champions League second-round clash on Saturday.

‎The decisive moment came five minutes after halftime, when Moctar Diallo fired home for the hosts to hand Black Bulls a slender advantage heading into the return fixture.

‎Despite the setback, Rivers United delivered a spirited performance, creating several goal-scoring opportunities but failing to convert their chances in front of goal.

‎The Nigerian side will now look to overturn the deficit when they host the second leg at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next Sunday.

The aggregate winner will advance to the prestigious group stage of the competition — a phase that guarantees significant financial rewards and continental exposure.

‎Meanwhile, Nigeria’s other CAF Champions League representative, Remo Stars, will face a stern test on Sunday when they host South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

‎Rivers United’s focus now turns to home advantage, where the Pride of Rivers will seek redemption and a place among Africa’s elite clubs.
