Cross River Governor Rewards Super Falcons Defender Miracle Usani With ₦50 Million and Land Gift

The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Otu, has rewarded Super Falcons defender Miracle Usani with a cash gift of ₦50 million, a plot of land, and an appointment as Sports Ambassador of the state.
The gesture was announced during a special reception held in honour of the player at the Governor’s Office in Calabar, where Otu described Usani as “a shining example of talent, discipline, and excellence.”
“Today, I finally met with our star — our very own Miracle on the Pitch — whose exceptional talent, alongside other young female players, has brought immense pride and joy to our nation, and most especially to us as a state,” the governor stated on his official Facebook page.
In recognition of her contribution to sports and the honour she brought to Cross River, Otu also conferred on Usani the title of Very Very Important Personality (VVIP) of the State, the highest honour accorded to a private citizen. This status entitles her to all privileges enjoyed by state VVIPs, particularly during official events.
The governor noted that the financial reward and land allocation were part of his administration’s “Season of Sweetness” initiative — a programme aimed at celebrating excellence and inspiring young people to pursue greatness.
Miracle Usani, who plays for Edo Queens, was a member of the Super Falcons squad that lifted the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, making one appearance during the tournament.
Governor Otu commended her achievement as a proud moment for Cross River State and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting female athletes and youth development through sports.
