Promising winger Eyitayo Rasheed has officially completed a move from Surulere-based Emiloju Football Club to Ekiti United, a club that competes in the Nigeria National League (NNL), the second tier of Nigerian football.
The skillful and pacy forward, known for his explosive runs and eye for goal, sealed the deal earlier this week after weeks of discussions between both clubs. Though the exact details of the contract remain undisclosed, sources confirm that Eyitayo has committed to helping Ekiti United push for promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in the forthcoming 2025/2026 season.
Eyitayo was one of the standout performers for Emiloju FC last season, contributing significantly to the team’s attacking flair and earning plaudits for his consistency, work rate, and versatility on both wings.
His departure marks the end of an inspiring chapter with the Surulere outfit, where he rose through the ranks from a youth prospect to a first-team regular.
Speaking on the transfer, Emiloju Football Club Chairman, Alhaji Musiliu Jimoh Alao, praised Eyitayo for his dedication, professionalism, and commitment to the club’s growth.
“Eyitayo is one of the finest young talents to have come through our system,” Alhaji Alao said. “We are proud of what he has achieved with Emiloju FC, and while we are sad to see him go, we are equally delighted to see him take the next step in his career.
” This move to Ekiti United is well deserved — he has worked hard, remained disciplined, and consistently shown the hunger to improve.”
He further added that Eyitayo’s progress reflects Emiloju FC’s commitment to player development and its growing reputation as a breeding ground for exceptional football talent.
“At Emiloju FC, we don’t just play football; we build careers,” Alhaji Alao continued. “Eyitayo’s transfer proves that with hard work, focus, and the right environment, young players can achieve great things. We wish him success as he represents our club values on a bigger stage.”
Reacting to his move, Eyitayo Rasheed expressed gratitude to Emiloju FC for shaping his career and pledged to give his best for his new club.
“Emiloju FC has been like a family to me. I’ve learned so much here — on and off the pitch. I’m thankful to the chairman, my coaches, and teammates for believing in me. Now, I’m ready for a new challenge with Ekiti United, and my goal is to help the team earn promotion to the NPFL,” Eyitayo said confidently.
Eyitayo’s transfer is seen as another testament to the developmental strides being made at Emiloju FC, which continues to nurture young footballers capable of competing at higher levels of the Nigerian football pyramid.
