Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala continued her fine form in the Saudi Women’s Premier League as she scored a dramatic stoppage-time winner to hand Al-Hilal a thrilling 3-2 victory over Al-Ittihad on Thursday.
Oshoala, who has been in scintillating form since joining Al-Hilal in the summer, struck in the 93rd minute to secure maximum points for her side. The Nigerian international has now scored in each of her four league appearances for the club.
Her Super Falcons teammate, Ashleigh Plumptre, was also instrumental in the encounter. With Al-Hilal holding a narrow 2-1 lead, Plumptre provided an assist in the 85th minute that allowed Al-Ittihad to level the score at 2-2. However, Oshoala rose to the occasion in added time, restoring Al-Hilal’s advantage with what proved to be the decisive goal.
The win sees Al-Hilal climb to the summit of the eight-team league table with 12 points from four matches. Al-Ittihad, meanwhile, drop to fourth place in the standings.
Oshoala’s outstanding performances this season have already earned her recognition, as she was recently crowned Saudi Women’s Premier League Player of the Month for September.
