Brighton & Hove Albion came from behind to defeat a 10-man Chelsea 3-1 at Stamford Bridge in a dramatic Premier League encounter.
Chelsea looked to be in control early on. In the 24th minute, Enzo Fernández headed home after a well-placed cross, giving the hosts a deserved lead. Their dominance, however, unraveled shortly after half time.
Just eight minutes into the second half, Trevoh Chalobah was shown a red card following a VAR review. He was judged to have denied Diego Gómez a clear goal-scoring opportunity. From that moment, the match shifted.
Brighton made their move late. In the 77th minute, Danny Welbeck rose to head in a Yankuba Minteh cross and level the game. Then, deep in stoppage time, Maxim De Cuyper nodded in a second before Welbeck struck again with a composed finish to seal the outcome.
The result ends Chelsea’s home unbeaten run and raises serious questions about how the Blues cope when reduced to 10 men. Meanwhile, Brighton’s resilience under pressure was rewarded with a famous away victory.
