….Sport Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN has set up diamond jubilee
National committee that would oversee the conferment of national honours on those that have supported the development and promotion of sports and social development in Nigeria.
The SWAN national diamond award event is scheduled as part of the activities to mark the celebration of its 60 years existence of the national umbrella body of sports writers in Nigeria.
According to the missive from the stable of the national secretariat of the association, the committee would identify individuals and organizations that have contributed to the development of sports in Nigeria.
The committee is expected to handle all arrangements that would ensure that those who deserved such honours are conferred with varying categories of SWAN national awards in line with the provisions of SWAN statues.
The appointment letters signed by the national scribe of the association, Amb Ikenna Okonkwo said that the committee members are, Jibo Zakari, member representing north east, Eche Emos, member representing , north central, Akintunde Akinsemola, member representing south west, Victor Okoye, member representing FCT, Chigozie Chukwuleta, member representing south east(secretary), Kehinde Ken Osagiede, member representing south south, Abdulgafar Oladimeji, chairman.
He said the committee is expected to ensure the selection of outstanding individuals, public and corporate bodies with track records in sports and other areas of social development in Nigeria.
