‎The Super Eagles of Nigeria have slipped one place in the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings, released on Thursday by the world football governing body.

‎Nigeria, previously ranked 44th globally, now occupy 45th position, marking a slight dip in their standing. On the continental scene, the three-time African champions have also dropped to sixth in Africa.

‎The Atlas Lions of Morocco continue to lead the African charge, holding 11th position worldwide. They are followed by the Teranga Lions of Senegal, the Pharaohs of Egypt, the Desert Foxes of Algeria, and the Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire, who complete the top five African sides ahead of Nigeria.

‎The ranking update comes on the back of Nigeria’s recent outings in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where they faced Rwanda and South Africa.

‎While the drop is marginal, it highlights the growing competition among Africa’s elite footballing nations and underlines the challenge for the Super Eagles as they continue their qualification campaign.
