Former Super Eagles midfielder, Friday Ekpo, has expressed optimism about Warri Wolves’ prospects in the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The Delta-based club is making a return to the top flight after a four-year absence, and Ekpo believes that with the right blend of experienced and talented players, they can be a force to be reckoned with again.
Ekpo notes that Warri Wolves’ success will depend on the team’s ability to combine experience and youth.
”With a blend of experienced players and young talent, Warri Wolves are expected to bring both grit and flair to the 2025/26 season,” Ekpo told Completesports.
He expects the team to learn from their previous years and avoid a repeat of the relegation battle. “Even if they don’t win anything, I expect them to still keep maintaining that NPFL status, which they rightly belong to.”
Warri Wolves are one of the four teams that gained promotion to the NPFL from the Nigeria National League (NNL), along with Barau FC, Kun Khalifat FC, and Wikki Tourists.
The team’s return to the top flight is a significant moment for the club and its fans, and Ekpo’s comments suggest that he believes they have the potential to make a positive impact.
