WAFCON 2024: Super Falcons Thrash Zambia 5-0 To Reach Semi-final

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the semi-finals of the 2024 WAFCON after a dominating 5-0 win over Zambia’s Copper Queens in the quarter-finals.
The match, played in Casablanca, showcased the Super Falcons’ exceptional skill and teamwork from the onset.
Osinachi Ohale scored the opening goal in the second minute, nodding home Esther Okoronkwo’s free-kick.
Esther Okoronkwo then doubled Nigeria’s lead, assisted by captain Rasheedat Ajibade. Chinwendu Ihezuo further solidified the team’s lead with a goal on the dot of 45 minutes, ensuring a comfortable 3-0 lead for the Super Falcons at halftime.
Despite Zambia’s efforts to regroup and mount pressure on Nigeria’s defense in the second half, the Super Falcons’ resilience and determination proved too strong.
Oluwatosin Demehin netted the fourth goal via a header, and Folashade Ijamilusi completed the rout by tapping-in Ajibade’s cross.
Nigeria remains unbeaten and yet to concede a goal in the tournament, a testament to the team’s strong defense and determination.
The Super Falcons have maintained their record of not losing at WAFCON quarter-finals.
The Super Falcons will now face the winners of the South Africa and Senegal match in the semi-finals, looking to continue their impressive form and make a strong bid for the championship.
