Edo Queens FC has officially announced the signing of Ghanaian goalkeeper Charlotte Adjei, a move that is expected to bolster the team’s ambitions for the upcoming Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) season.
The signing was unveiled at a ceremony in Benin City, attended by top dignitaries including the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, and the club’s General Manager, Mr. Rollanson Odeh.
Charlotte’s arrival is seen as a significant coup for the Benin-based side, who are looking to build a team capable of competing both domestically and continentally.
Hon. Enabulele expressed confidence in Adjei’s ability to make a meaningful impact, stating: “We are pleased to welcome Adjei Charlotte to Edo Queens. Her experience and talent will undoubtedly add value to our team as we aim for greater success.”
The highly-rated goalkeeper brings a wealth of experience, having previously played for Rivers Angels, Remo Stars Ladies, and Ghana’s Ampem Darkoa.
She has also featured in the CAF Women’s Champions League in both 2021 and 2023, showcasing her ability on the biggest stage. Charlotte’s reflexes, leadership, and commanding presence between the sticks were key to Remo Stars Ladies’ impressive run to the NWFL Super Six last season.
Charlotte’s signing reinforces Edo Queens’ defensive unit and signals the club’s intent to challenge for top honors. With her experience and talent, Adjei is expected to make a significant contribution to the team’s success.
