Sporting Supreme FC of Abuja got off to a flying start in the 2025 Gothia Cup, held in Gothenburg, Sweden, with a resounding 5-0 victory over FC Arlanda.
The Nigerian club dominated the match from the onset, scoring four goals in the first 20 minutes.
Kenneth Anthony opened the scoring in the 9th minute, slotting past the FC Arlanda goalkeeper.
Peter Timothy doubled the lead just two minutes later, putting Sporting Supreme FC 2-0 up.
Stanley Ogbonna and Ebrima Manneh added the third and fourth goals, respectively, before Moses Sunday sealed the win with a sublime fifth goal in the second half.
Sporting Supreme FC will face JSC Pitray-Olier Paris 2 in their second group match today, looking to build on their impressive start to the tournament.
The Gothia Cup is one of the world’s largest and most prestigious youth football tournaments, attracting over 1,700 teams from 80 countries.
