Real Madrid has qualified for the semi-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup after a thrilling 3-2 win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday.
The match was filled with drama, with both teams creating scoring opportunities.
Garcias Gonzalo and Fran Garcia scored in the first half to give Real Madrid a 2-0 lead.
However, Borussia Dortmund staged a late comeback, with Maximilian Beier scoring a lovely volley to halve the deficit.
Substitute Kylian Mbappe restored Real Madrid’s two-goal advantage with a superb acrobatic effort.
However, Dean Huijsen’s red card for denying a clear goal-scoring opportunity led to a penalty being awarded to Borussia Dortmund.
Serhou Guirassy converted the penalty with just seconds to go, but it was too little, too late for Borussia Dortmund. Real Madrid held on for the win and will now face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals on Wednesday.
