Okeleke’s Stunning Free Kick Secures Vital Win for Adeyemi FC Over 12 Alive

Okeleke Victor sealed a hard-fought victory for Adeyemi FC with a magnificent free kick in the 78th minute, easing the pressure on Coach Drey’s side in a 1-0 win over 12 Alive FC.

 

Adeyemi FC faced off against 12 Alive FC on matchday four of the Ibadan Football Council (IFC) League on Saturday at Olubadan Stadium, Ibadan.

 

Coach Drey’s team started with an attacking intent as Oha Uche delivered a perfect cross to Ogunbode Timothy, whose well-aimed shot was blocked by the hosts’ defense.

 

Asowa Chidinma controlled the midfield brilliantly, making crucial interceptions despite the opponents’ aggressive challenges.

 

Okeleke Victor had an early opportunity in the 13th minute, curling a well-placed shot that went inches wide.

 

12 Alive FC also pushed forward, attempting to break through Adeyemi FC’s defense, but the solid partnership of Olayiwola Habeeb and Anwule Junior kept them at bay.

 

In the 26th minute, Ogundele Oluwadara was forced off due to injury, with Arowolo Toheeb coming in as his replacement.

 

Adeyemi FC came close again in the 30th minute when Oha Uche controlled the ball well and fired a shot, but the goalkeeper managed to punch it away for a corner.

 

Coach Drey made tactical changes in the 32nd minute, introducing Abdulrasheed Afeez and Jonadab Awopegba in place of Oha Uche and Muftau Faruq.

 

Despite several attacking attempts, the first half ended goalless.

 

The second half resumed with 12 Alive FC threatening early, but their effort went wide. Adeyemi FC goalkeeper Akan Paul made a crucial save to deny the hosts a scoring opportunity.

 

Arowolo Toheeb attempted a free kick after Ogunbode Timothy was fouled outside the box, but his shot was saved and pushed out for a corner.

 

Substitutions followed, with Sunday Joseph making way for Shittu Ibrahim to bolster the attack. Shittu soon missed a golden opportunity after a well-placed pass from Okeleke Victor.

 

Jonadab Awopegba was also replaced by Sulaimon Faruk to add more firepower up front. Okeleke had another chance from a free kick in the 64th minute, but the goalkeeper tipped it over for a corner.

 

As the game approached its final moments, Ogunbode Timothy and Rafiu Wasiu both had efforts that went wide. In the 70th minute, 12 Alive FC launched a dangerous long ball that beat goalkeeper Akan Paul, but Abdulrasheed Afeez made a crucial clearance to keep the score level.

 

Finally, in the 78th minute, Rafiu Wasiu was fouled just outside the box, and the referee awarded a free kick. Okeleke Victor stepped up and delivered a stunning strike, breaking the deadlock and securing all three points for Adeyemi FC.

 

The match ended 1-0, a crucial victory for Coach Drey’s side in their IFC League campaign.
