Shooting Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has blamed the team carelessness and fatigue after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Visitors, Lobi Stars, on Wednesday evening in Ibanda.
The encounter which was a Matchday 25 mid week clash, saw the Oluwayo warriors failed to secure the maximum points, at the Lekan Salami Stadium.
Ogunbote, while speaking with the journalists shortly after the game, revealed that the team were a little bit careless in the game, but came out stronger in the second half.
” We were a little bit careless in the game, ” Ogunbote said.
” Because we needed to have wrapped up the game in the first 45 minutes, but unfortunately we gave out the two goals. However, in the second half, we gave it our all, but the luck wasn’t on our side.”
The experienced gaffer further said Fatigue is catching up with the players, which is a big concern for the team.
” Of course, I think it is something that calls for concerns, but there is nothing we can do, we just need to get in to make sure that we are represented. So, we do the bit we can and then continue from there. But however, the fatigue will actually set-in, more importantly when we do not have a large squad,” he further explained.
The Shooting Stars gaffer also revealed that even with the draw against Lobi Stars, he is still hopeful that they will finish in the top two by the end of the season.
” Well, I think that there’s still hope, because with this draw, maybe it is a blessing sometimes. But I see it as a temporary setback for us on the log table. Also the closest teams behind us also dropped point at home and The other also lost on the road, so it is still made us to maintain the second position. But we still need to get couple of points on the road before the end of the season to have a chance.”
