Nigeria Women’s Premier League (NWFL) side Ibom Angels FC have received a morale boost from retired FIFA referee and NPFL referees’ assessor, Anietie Ferdinand Udoh. The former Nigeria Referee of the Year has pledged to reward the team for every goal they score during the 2024/2025 season.

Udoh, known for his passion for supporting grassroots football, expressed his motivation behind the initiative. Speaking to journalists, he said: “This is my little way of supporting the team. Goals win matches, and if this can motivate the players to give their best, I am happy to do it.”

The Coach Edwin Okon-led side already benefitted from Udoh’s promise, receiving a cash reward for their lone goal in last week’s 2-1 loss to Naija Ratels in Abuja.

Udoh’s history of supporting football is well-documented. Last season, he rewarded Nigeria National League (NNL) side Dakkada FC with ₦25,000 for every away draw and ₦50,000 for each away win.

Ibom Angels will return to NWFL action on Wednesday, 5 February 2025, hosting their next match at the Uyo Township Stadium at 4 PM, as they aim to improve their season and secure top-flight status.
