NPFL:Adebayo, Mawuena Score As Remo Stars Beat Abia Warriors In A Five-goal Thriller

Remo Stars continued on their impressive start in the second stanza of the season, after the came back from two goals down to beat Abia Warriors, in a five goals thriller, on Wednesday, at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne.

 

 

The encounter, which was a Matchday 21 Mid-week clash, saw the Umuahia based club, took the lead, through youngster Ayodele Ezekiel, in the 25th minute, when he slotted home a delightful volley to put the Imama Amapakabo’s led side 1-0 ahead. Before Anthony Ijoma doubled the lead 2-0, two minutes later with a close range finish.

 

 

However, Olamilekan Adebayo pulled a goal back for the Sky Blue Stars, in the 38th minute, to reduced the deficit to 2-1. Before Malik Jabbar levelled it 2-2, in the 45th minute, from a close range strike, as the first half ended in a 2-2 draw.

 

 

In the second half, Remo Stars’ head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede made couple of substitutions to help change the approach of the game, as Togolese forward Franck Mawuena restored the host first lead in the game, when he head home a delightful Tochukwu Michael cross to strike home the third goal, in the 53rd minute. As they held on to secure a 3-2 win, and extend its lead in the top of the log to eight points.
