Sevilla is reported to have secured the deal with Nigerian striker Akor Adams in a €5.5 million transfer fee from Montpellier. The 24-year-old has arrived in Spain to complete the move, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Friday.

Akor Adams will be at Sevilla on Saturday to complete his move from Montpellier for a €5.5m transfer fee. Exclusive story – confirmed, Romano said on X.

Adams has struggled to find the same rhythm of his first season in France, with just three goals and an assist scored or created in more than a dozen outings for Montpellier this campaign. It’s a precipitous drop-off from last year’s debut, when he scored seven goals in Ligue 1 after joining from Norwegian side Lillestrøm.

Sevilla, currently 11th in La Liga with 26 points from 20 matches, need firepower upfront as they seek to climb the table and avoid being drawn into a relegation battle. The arrival of Adams could also have an effect on fellow Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho, who has not featured for Los Nervionenses in over a month.

Sevilla reeling from a shocking 4-1 Copa del Rey loss to Almeria will be hoping Adams gets back to finding the back of the net and reigniting their season.
