The celebrated Nigerian women’s footballer, Francisca Ordega, has penned a two-year deal as a free agent with Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad Ladies following the expiration of her contract with CSKA Moscow.
The 31-year-old forward links up with his fellow Nigerian international Ashleigh Plumptre as Al-Ittihad continue to add more stars to their ranks. Ordega’s transfer was confirmed on the club’s official X handle.
During her spell with CSKA Moscow, she played 84 matches in which she scored 29 goals and provided 20 assists. Her contribution helped the club win a Russian Cup and a Super Cup during her time in the team.
Ordega has played for Levante, Atletico Madrid, Washington Spirit, and Shanghai Shengli, underlining how rich her international experience is.
Al-Ittihad Ladies are a team that sit seventh in the 10-team Saudi Women’s Premier League with 15 points. They really need a change in fortunes now, having lost four of their last five matches and three on the trot.
With such influence in games, Al-Ittihad will hope the Nigerian star can inspire a resurgence in their campaign and drive them toward better fortunes.
