Alex Iwobi has risen to second in the list of Nigerians with the most Premier League appearances after Fulham’s 3-2 defeat to West Ham on Tuesday night.

The 28-year-old midfielder has now made 274 appearances in the English top flight, one more than the legendary Nwankwo Kanu, who played 273 times for Arsenal, Portsmouth, and West Brom during his career.

Former Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi leads the pack with 293 appearances in the Premier League.

Iwobi made his Premier League bow for Arsenal in October 2015 and played 100 league games for the Gunners before joining Everton, going on to make 123 appearances prior to his summer 2023 move to Fulham.

While Iwobi is primarily known for his work rate and versatility, he remains the mainstay in the Fulham squad going into the last stretch of this season’s Premier League action.
