Seiyefa Jackson’s 47th-minute goal in Minna made all the difference as we extended our unbeaten run in the league to eight games. Having scored his first 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League goal against Enyimba FC on Matchday 4, he netted again two minutes after the restart of the second half to secure a hard-earned three points.

The goal was a replica of a direct routine from the training ground, as Jackson stroked home from Emmanuel Nnaji’s well-taken free kick, beating Tornadoes keeper Joshua Enaholo.

For much of the rest of the game, it was about resolute defending, from the front to our four-man defense. We owe a debt of gratitude to goalkeeper Osagie Onisodumeya, who capped his five-star performance with a stunning save, diving full-length to stop a strike from inside the box.

Rivers United were reduced to 10 men following Emmanuel Nnaji’s sending off for a second bookable offense. The hosts continued to pin us back, and we had to remain organized in and around our penalty box.

Despite the hosts’ late surge, our excellent defensive effort earned us a 1-0 win, securing our second away win this season.
