WAFU B Women’s Champions League:Edo Queens Battles Ainonvi FC For The Sole Ticket Today

Edo Queens of Benin City will later today take on Ainonvi Football Club of Benin Republic in the final of the 2024 WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers in Bouaké, Cote D’Ivoire.
Edo Queens defeated FC Inter D’Abidjan of Cote D’Ivoire 2-1 with goals from Suliat Abideen and Blessing Illivieda in the semi-finals after topping Group B during the round robin stage of the competition.
Scoring eleven goals and conceding just one that came of the boot of Adjoua Niamien of FC Inter D’Abidjan of Cote D’Ivoire from the spot in the semi-finals match.
With a very potent attack force and a water tight back line, Ainonvi FC of Benin Republic are in for a difficult and bitter experience from the hands of the Nigeria Women Football League winners.
Edo Queens FC captain fantastic Suliat Abideen, says, “My mission is clear. Lead the team to victory and return with the trophy for Edo People.”
Coach Moses Aduku stated that the fans will see a very tactical Edo Queens in today’s final against Ainonvi FC of Benin Republic.
“Definitely we are not going to take the game easy. We are going to go all pot because there is nothing more to play for, just more 90 minutes. We are going to approach the game tactically and try to score goals and see how to win the game.”
Ainonvi FC of Benin Republic won their two group games to top Group A with six points. They got rid of Etincelle Omnisports of Burkina Faso 1-0 in the last four, scoring five times and letting in two goals in the process.
Meanwhile, the chairman of Edo State Sports Commission (ESSC), Yusuf Alli met with the players and officials of Edo Queens, he encouraged them to go glory as plenty of glad tidings awaits them when they eventually return to Benin City trophy and ticket to the finals of the CAF Champions League.
The winner of the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers will represent the Zone in the main tournament later this year.
