‎The Bayelsa State Football Association BSFA has commended the State government for successfully hosting the Nigeria Football Federation Extraordinary General Assembly in Yenagoa.

‎Bayelsa State last week hosted the cream la cream of Nigeria football in Yenagoa ahead of its elective congress slated on the 26th of September, 2026 in Lafia Nasarawa State.

‎The State football regulatory body in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Association Mr. Diseye Nwankwe, said the continuous hosting of national programmes in the state has shown the governor’s unending passion for sports.

‎He noted that the gesture by the Bayelsa State government has placed the state as a leading sporting state in the country, pointing out that the FA is happy with the response it’s receiving from the visitors.

‎According to him, since the governor assumed office as the state helmsman, he has made Bayelsa a mecca of sports particularly the construction of a new 30,000-capacity seater stadium at Igbogene, stating that in the last five years that Bayelsa has moved from mere participation to winning competition.

‎Mr Nwankwe appreciated the Deputy governor Dr.Peter Akpe and the commissioner for Sports Development, Chief Daniel Igali for translating the governor’s vision for sports into reality, maintaining that the Extraordinary General Assembly has opened a new page for Bayelsa FA.

‎The statement equally lauds the Technical Adviser to the governor on Sports Development and the immediate past Director of Sports, Sir. Braveman Wodi for his immense contribution to see that the programme was successful.
