Doma United FC have officially sealed their return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), with winger Yusuf Fantami playing a pivotal role in the club’s remarkable promotion campaign.

The Gombe-based side confirmed their top-flight status after a convincing 2-0 victory over Mighty Jets on Matchday 13 at the Pantami Stadium. The result ensured that the Savannah Tigers finished top of Conference C in the 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL), becoming the first team to secure promotion this season.

Fantami, who joined Doma United mid-season from Sokoto United FC, proved to be a game-changer. The exciting right winger delivered a series of standout performances, scoring crucial goals and consistently influencing matches in the club’s favour.

His efforts earned him multiple Man of the Match awards as well as a place in the Team of the Week, underlining his growing importance to the squad.

Doma United’s promotion marks a swift return to the elite division, just two years after their relegation.

The team demonstrated consistency and resilience throughout the campaign, finishing with 26 points from 13 matches. Their impressive record included seven home victories, one away win, and two away draws, with only three losses.

Defensively solid and efficient in attack, the Savannah Tigers scored 17 goals while conceding just eight, highlighting a balanced approach that proved decisive in their successful push for promotion.

With a five-point lead over second-placed FC Basira and one game left to play, Doma United’s place in the 2026/27 NPFL season is firmly secured.

While Doma United celebrate their achievement, three more promotion slots from Conferences A, B, and D remain up for grabs as the race intensifies across the Nigeria National League.

For Yusuf Fantami, this milestone represents a significant step forward in his career.

His immediate impact since joining the club not only boosted Doma United’s campaign but also signals the emergence of a promising talent ready for the demands of top-flight football.
