Kamal FC delivered an impressive performance to edge past Ijesha Golden Warriors in an entertaining Matchday 2 encounter at the Oriade Pre-Season Tournament, held at Osogbo Grammar School.

The match sprang into action almost from the very first whistle, as Kamal FC wasted no time in asserting their attacking ambitions, making their intentions clear with an early forward push as soon as the second minute.

Jamiu Sulaimon stepped up to take a well-struck free kick that narrowly sailed over the crossbar, offering an early warning to the Warriors’ defense.

By the 9th minute, Kamal continued to pile on pressure. A dangerous corner kick nearly caught the Ijesha Golden Warriors off guard, as the delivery was aimed directly into goal. However, goalkeeper Yusuf Badmus reacted sharply to prevent an early concession.

The breakthrough came just two minutes later, Sulaimon found the back of the net to give Kamal FC a deserved lead, capitalizing on their early dominance.

Kamal FC doubled their advantage in the 28th minute through the same man. Sulaimon latched onto a well-timed through ball from the left flank, drove confidently into the penalty area, and calmly slotted past Badmus to complete his brace and put his side firmly in control.

Just before halftime, Warriors nearly pull one back. Emmanuel Adebayo whipped in a powerful corner which was met by Awe Fisayo, but his powerful header drifted narrowly over the bar.

The second half saw a more determined Ijesha Golden Warriors side. Their persistence paid off in the 54th minute when they were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box. Awe Fisayo stepped up confidently and converted, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to reduce the deficit.

Kamal FC had a golden opportunity to restore their two-goal cushion. A moment of uncertainty from Badmus, who rushed out to intercept but failed to clear effectively, gifted Ajao Idris a chance. However, his effort rolled agonizingly wide, much to the relief of the Warriors.

As the game approached its final stages, Kamal FC continued to threaten. David Nehemiah unleashed a powerful strike destined for the net, but Badmus produced a fine save to push it out for a corner.

Badmus was called into action again in the 85th minute, pulling off a crucial one-on-one save against Nehemiah by stretching out his leg to deny what looked like a certain goal.

Despite mounting sustained pressure in the closing stages of the match, Kamal FC were unable to add a third goal to further strengthen their advantage. At the final whistle, it was Kamal FC who emerged victorious with a hard-fought 2-1 win.

Jamiu Sulaimon was named Man if the Match following his outstanding performance against Ijesha Golden Warriors.
