The match delivered an entertaining contest for spectators, as both teams displayed determination, tactical discipline, and solid defensive performances throughout the 90 minutes.
Telu FC Show Early Intent
Telu FC began the encounter on the front foot, showing greater attacking urgency in the opening stages. Their first significant opportunity arrived in the 25th minute when Adebayo Sodiq unleashed a powerful long-range effort that narrowly sailed past the post, drawing an early reaction from the crowd.
The attacking momentum continued just four minutes later. Gaga Edu whipped in a well-weighted cross from the right flank that found Adebayo Sodiq inside the penalty area. The forward rose confidently to meet the delivery, but his header drifted just wide of the target.
Telu FC intensified the pressure as the first half progressed. In the 37th minute, a lively attacking move produced three quick attempts on goal. Oriade FC’s defense stood firm, blocking two of the shots before the third effort was deflected away for a corner kick. Their resilience ensured the scoreline remained unchanged heading into halftime.
Oriade FC Fight Back After the Break
Oriade FC returned from the break with renewed energy and gradually began to impose themselves on the game. The hosts pushed forward with greater purpose, seeking to break the deadlock.
Their clearest chance arrived in the 74th minute when Akindele Awonusi found himself in a promising scoring position. However, the forward was unable to capitalize on the opportunity, sending his effort off target.
As the match approached its final minutes, Oriade FC increased the tempo in search of a late winner. In the 86th minute, they won a corner kick which was expertly delivered into the penalty area. Akindele Awonusi rose highest to power a header toward goal, but Telu FC goalkeeper Koyum Ibrahim produced a brilliant save, diving across his line to push the ball away.
The closing moments brought further drama. Deep into stoppage time, Oriade’s Olamilekan Hazzan fired a dangerous shot on target, only for Koyum Ibrahim to once again rise to the occasion with another impressive save.
Despite the late pressure and several promising chances from both sides, neither team managed to find the finishing touch. The referee’s final whistle confirmed a hard-fought stalemate, with both Oriade FC and Telu FC settling for a point in the pre-season tournament clash.
